Esther's Guesthouse is situated in an old wooden Swiss chalet in the peaceful historic mountain town of Gimmelwald. It's one of the last car-free villages in the Alps. The guesthouse offers 7 rooms and 2 apartments. The family run guesthouse is located only 150 metres or a two minute's walk from the cable car station.
Our holiday home has a perfect infrastructure for a relaxed holiday up in the mountains. Our simple and cozy rooms and apartments are well furnished. A shared kitchen is at your service.
In the summer, our sun terrace and garden offer you seating opportunities and BBQ facilities. In the winter time, you can use our ski room to store your skis, boards and sledges and to dry your winter stuff.

Until 15 days before arrival: no charge, except processing fee of 5% of the total rate which will be charged at the moment of your booking
8 until 14 days before arrival: 50% charge of the room rate
7 until 0 days before arrival: 100% charge of the room rate

The room rate chosen is not refundable. 100 % of the price will be charged at the moment of your booking
Travel cancellation insurance
Unfortunately, there are always cases of illness, accidents or other good reasons which could enable you to embark on your journey. Therefore we warmly recommend you to opt for a travel insurance and a travel cancellation insurance that covers any costs in the case you are for any reason unable to travel as a precautionary measure.
Terms and Conditions
Arrival: Gimmelwald is car-free. Traveling by car, drive via Interlaken Ost to Lauterbrunnen, then to Stechelberg, Schilthornbahn Talstation. If you arrive by car, you can park your car in the large Schilthornbahn car park. If you travel by public transport, in Interlaken Ost you get the train to Lauterbrunnen (watch out: it's the front part of the train), where you change to the post car to Stechelberg Schilthornbahn. From Stechelberg to Gimmelwald you travel by cable car (connections every half hour during the day). Gimmelwald is the first station and you reach it after only 5 minutes. In Gimmelwald you reach our guesthouse on foot in 2 minutes on the right side of the street leading up in the village center.
Breakfast with regional products is not included in the room price, but can be booked the evening before (CHF 16 per person). Buffet with coffee, a tea selection, rolls, bread, ham, dried sausage, cheese, fruit spreads, juices, honey, jam, muesli, yoghurt and boiled eggs in the dining room. 8:30 a.m.
Check-in: The rooms are available from 4 p.m. Of course you can also leave your luggage with us beforehand.
Check-out: until 10 a.m.
Goldencard: All guests receive the guest card for Gimmelwald and Mürren with many advantages such as free entrance to the indoor swimming pool and ice rink in Mürren as well as reductions for the Alpine Spa and the fitness room.
